The Body Positivity movement is probably something you’ve seen on social media or in conversation as a new mom. The “get your body back” focus is not only unrealistic, but harmful for our mental health. But what if no matter what affirmation you say, no matter how many people tell you that you look amazing for “just having a baby”, you still don’t feel proud or connected to what that amazing body gives you. You’re connected to fitting into your jeans from yesterday, you get on a scale daily and validate yourself by a number, you count the days to where you can “kill it” in the gym, count carbs, hope that breastfeeding will take off the baby weight… you can fill in the blanks with all the other thoughts that scream in our brains after we have a baby. You’re doing it all wrong. But you’re normal, and I did the EXACT same thing. You are not alone!

Let’s be real. Let’s be honest. Most of the time we overanalyze our bodies. The outside appearance. We criticize. We sink into a hole. There’s shame. Embarrassment. It affects us and we shouldn’t hide that. But how do we get out of this dark hole?
I’m here to introduce you to Emily Lauren Dick: Body Image Expert, Photographer, Activist, and Author of the incredible book “Body Positive” (and a children’s book is on the way!) Not only does she have incredible and inspirational messages and tools throughout this episode, but she is just such a RELATABLE and wonderful soul to listen to and connect with. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did recording it with her.
